I am making Editorpus.com to document the ups and downs of writing my debut novel. I am starting this blog right at the beginning of my process. I have never written a book before. I haven’t even written a single sentence yet. In fact, I don’t even really have an idea. But, I honestly believe that there is no creative pursuit more awe-inspiring than writing a fiction book. Creating a whole world, filling it with characters, and sending these characters on a quest. I have always called myself a creative person. But the proof is in the pudding- and I haven’t made the pudding yet. So that is what I will be doing.
The Name
I picked the name Editorpus for “Editor Octopus”. One of the reasons that I never finish the projects that I start, is that I try to do too many things at once. Octopuses have 8 arms, so I thought that was fitting. Also – Octopus ink… pen ink… writing? I don’t know, comment if you think there is a better name I should’ve used.
The Blog
Editorpus.com is not just a place where I track my own success (that would be pretty ego-centric). I also post helpful insights for aspiring authors, so that you (the reader) can sharpen your own fiction writing skills. Here, I will be sharing everything I learn. And, I hope you find practical advice on developing compelling characters, crafting vivid settings, mastering dialogue, and navigating the complexities of plot structure.
Whether you’re just starting your writing journey or you’re a seasoned storyteller looking for fresh ideas, Editorpus.com offers a supportive and resourceful community to help you bring your fictional worlds to life. Check out the blog.
The Services
In addition to sharing some tricks of the trade, I also offer professional proofreading and editing services tailored to fiction writers. Whether you’re polishing a short story, a novel, or anything in between, I can help refine your manuscript to ensure your narrative shines. With a keen eye for detail, a passion for storytelling, and an understanding of the nuances that make fiction come alive, my services are designed to support writers at any stage of their creative process. Take a look at my services, because trust me: every draft needs a second set of eyes.
The Artwork
One of the things that makes Editorpus.com unique is that all of the digital artwork featured here is created by me, the author. These original pieces are designed to complement the writing tips and storytelling concepts discussed in each post, providing a visual dimension to the creative process. (They also make this website look epic).
The Newsletter
I am in the process of creating a newsletter. (Nothing crazy, just something to remind you that you’re not alone in the world). Go to the homepage of this site to sign up.
So what’s the skinny?
Let’s be frank: writing a novel is challenging, and impossible to do without the right tools. That’s why, I’ll be sharing my progress, insights, and experiences as I navigate the complexities of character development, plot twists, world-building, and everything else that goes into crafting a compelling story.
